“the city of tomorrow“
An Archaeological Approach to Hansaviertel Berlin
Exhibition and program: 16. Mai – 15. Juli 2007
A project by Annette Maechtel and Kathrin Peters
in collaboration with Christine Heidemann
While the Hansa district today stands as an architectural monument near Berlin Tiergarten, at the time of Interbau 57, it was a model for that which “the city of tomorrow“ could be, or should have been. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Hansaviertel and Interbau 1957, artists were invited to engage with the various levels of this cityscape, its past and its present.
The works produced will be shown in an exhibition and accompanying program at the Academy of Arts, Hanseatenweg in Berlin. A book will be published in Autumn 2007.
